Amethyst and Citrine colors are found in the same crystal of quartz.
These bi-color yellow and purple quartz gemstones are called Ametrine.
The world's only source of this bi-colored natural quartz is the
Anahi Mine located in the jungles of Bolivia. It is rumored that
the mines where first discovered by native Indians in the seventeenth
century. Ametrine gemstone was introduced to Europe through the Conquistador's
gifts to the Spanish Queen. Ametrine jewelry has increased in popularity
and many jewelry designers are making full use of its unusual qualities
to design & produce some truly eye-catching items. |

Comprised of two types of gems in one stone, Ametrine is one of the
world's most unusual gemstones. The yellow orange part of
Ametrine is Citrine, and the violet purple part is Amethyst. To
highlight this color split the gem is cut into long shapes (which
is ideal for rings and bracelets), whereas larger gemstones make
enchanting pendants, perfect for evening wear.
The astrological sign of Ametrine is Libra, and the gem is said to
posses all the metaphysical properties of both Amethyst and Citrine
combined as well its own unique properties. Ametrine is believed
to aid in meditation, relieve tension, disperse negativity, and help
to eliminate prejudice. A fine split in the colors (and their intensity)
are the most important aspects to consider when evaluating Ametrine
gemstones. |
